How it works

Step one: Initial questionnaire

Before the assessment, learners will need to complete an initial assessment questionnaire. This will help us:

• Confirm you have the experience necessary for the qualification

• Decide the ideal qualification and assessment route for your needs.

The completed form should be sent to NCC.AccountManager@citb.co.uk. Our team is also available to answer questions or help you fill in the form.

Step two: Induction workshop

This half-day workshop takes place at NCC Inchinnan in Scotland. You’ll learn:

• How our organisation works

• How we provide support throughout the programme

• The qualification they are working towards

• Assessment route and methods (This is customised to suit the individual)

• The people involved in the process

• How evidence of competency will be collected and recorded

After the workshop, learners should know:

• How to collect evidence while working on site

• How to record this evidence for their portfolio

• Who they can contact for support.

Step three: Assessment at work

You’ll collect and record evidence of your skills from your everyday work to compile a work-based portfolio for our Assessment Team to review.

Assessment is through a combination of observation, discussion and employer validation to fit your experience.

Trade qualifications you can get

You can get a SVQ SCQF Level 5 (QCF Level 2) in one of the following trades:

• Ceiling Fixing

• Dry Lining – Fixing

• Dry Lining - Finishing (Ames taping)

• Waterproof Membrane Roofing Systems – Reinforced Bitumen Membrane Roofing (Built up Felt Roofing)

• Waterproof Membrane Roofing Systems – Single Ply Membrane Roofing

• Cladding Occupations – Roof Sheeting and Cladding

• General Construction

• Road Building and Maintenance.
